The Spiritual Cure is an explanation of Surah Al-Fatihah, offering a summary of numerous classical commentaries on the Qur’an. The underlying theme of Surah Al-Fatihah is one of contemplation and serenity — reflecting on the Names and Attributes of Allah, pondering His creation, and recognizing that He alone deserves all praise and worship. He alone should be sought for help, feared, and hoped in. He alone should be invoked.
The Surah affirms the reality of the Day of Judgement and the fact that guidance has been sent to us. We are required to remain firm and consistent upon this guidance by the Tawfiq (divine success) of Allah.
It urges us to carefully examine our relationship with our Lord — are we truly living by the declaration and covenant that “none has the right to be worshipped but Allah”? Despite its brevity, this opening chapter of the Qur’an calls mankind to fulfill the rights of Tawheed — the exclusive right of Allah to be worshipped alone — in over thirty distinct ways. It concisely encapsulates the core message of the entire Qur’an.
