The Beautiful and Perfect Names of Allah – Shaykh Nāṣir al-Saʿdī
Among the highest and noblest forms of knowledge is recognising Allah through His beauty, majesty, and absolute perfection. While creation may know Allah through some of His Attributes, the most complete understanding belongs to those who reflect on His limitless beauty - beauty that no created thing can compare to. Even if all creation were imagined in its most flawless form, it would not equal even a fraction of the beauty of Allah.
This introduction is drawn from Shaykh Nāṣir al-Saʿdī’s tafsīr Taysīr al-Karīm al-Raḥmān, where he clearly explains the Names of Allah as they appear in the Qur’an. After each explanation, relevant Qur’anic verses have been added to illustrate the usage of each Divine Name.
The Shaykh limited his enumeration to the Names explicitly mentioned in the Qur’an, which he counted as eighty-nine. Additional Names have been included from Shaykh Ibn ʿUthaymīn’s work Qawāʿid al-Muthlā fī Ṣifāt Allāh wa Asmāʾih al-Ḥusnā, bringing the total to one hundred and three.
Before the main treatise begins, foundational principles regarding the Names of Allah are presented to strengthen understanding.
